Income-Based Repayment (IBR) is a student loan repayment plan available for Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) and Federal Direct Loan Program (FDLP) borrowers. Unlike other repayment plans, IBR establishes a monthly payment that looks at your unique situation by considering your income, family size, and federal student loan debt. For additional information, please visit TG.
The following are not eligible for IBR: College Access Loan (CAL), Health Education Assistance Loan (HEAL), Health Education Loan Program (HELP), Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program (TASSP), Texas B-On-Time (BOT), and Teach for Texas (TFT) Conditional Grant.
Establish Recurring Payments: Using a financial institution's online banking service provides a convenient way to schedule recurring payments on your student loan account. If this interests you, ask your financial institution if this service is offered. If you choose to set up recurring online bill payments, be sure to use the Account Number located at the top of your monthly billing statement and make the check payable to THECB Loans.
Submit Online Payments to your account 24 Hours Per Day: You can make online payments to your account by using Mastercard, Discover, or American Express credit cards. Visa is not accepted. Payments can also be made by using your checking or savings bank account number and routing number. Payments made online will be posted to your account within 3 business days. To make a payment, borrowers can log in to their account, select the "Make a payment to your account" button and follow the prompts.
Pay by Phone 24 Hours Per Day: You can make your loan payments using our check-by-phone option, which is fully automated with no wait time. Call 512-427-6340 or 800-242-3062 (outside Austin only) and select the option "make a payment using our check-by-phone service." This service is available 24 hours a day. You will need to refer to a personal check for required bank account information in making a check-by-phone payment.
Consolidate your federal loans: You may be able to combine your existing Federal education loans into one new consolidated loan that can offer several advantages. For more information, go to the official federal government website at loan consolidation.
