Loan and Scholarship Programs from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board

2023 Tax Information: Tax information regarding loan interest paid (Form 1098-E),  loan debt forgiven (Form 1099-C), or Texas B-On-Time loan forgiven (1099-C statement) will be mailed to borrowers by January 31, 2024. Please ensure you provide ample time for postal service delivery. Beginning January 19, 2024, customers may obtain tax information for all loan interest paid and loan debt forgiven by logging in to their account and accessing the Borrower Summary page.

Future Occupations and Reskilling Workforce Advancement to Reach Demand (FORWARD) Loan Program

We are excited to announce that we have a new low-interest loan option for Texas students. The FORWARD Loan Program is designed for students who are at least halfway to completing specific degree or certification programs within the fields of Energy, Nursing/Patient Care, Teaching, Technology, and Transportation/Logistics. To see if your program is eligible, refer to the full list here. To qualify, you must be able to complete your program within two years or less.

College Access Loan (CAL) Program

The CAL Program provides alternative education loans to Texas students who are unable to meet cost of attendance.

NEW  Effective September 1, 2023, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board is required to calculate the final loan amount based on a student's "manageable debt" for the borrower's program of study (see amounts) on College Access Loan (CAL) applications (see TAC, Section 22.49(c)).     

 

Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program (TASSP)

The Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program encourages students to complete a baccalaureate degree and become members of the Texas Army National Guard, Texas Air National Guard, Texas State Guard, United States Coast Guard, or United States Merchant Marine, or to become commissioned officers in any branch of the armed services of the United States.
