Tuition Waiver for Students from Neighboring States Continuing Upper Level Undergraduate StudiesProgram Purpose
To provide a waiver of nonresident tuition for individuals who are residents of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico or Oklahoma and have graduated from or completed 45 semester credit hours while enrolled in certain public institutions in Texas while paying a reduced tuition rate based on reciprocity, to attend an upper-level institution in Texas while paying a tuition rate based on the rate charged Texas students at similar institutions in their state.Eligibility Requirements
Students who are residents of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico or Oklahoma enrolled at eligible institutions.Eligible Institutions
The waiver applies to eligible students attending an upper-level institution located in the relevant community college's district or in the county in which the relevant technical college is located, or in a county adjacent to the county in which the technical college is located. The waiver currently applies only to the following state and institutions: Arkansas (earn 45 semester credit hours at Texarkana College and transfer to TAMU-Texarkana).Award Amount
The tuition rate charged students participating in this program is based on the rate similar institutions in the students' home state charge Texas residents to attend. Therefore, the program can be used only when the Texas institution has an agreement with a similar institution in the student's home state, to allow Texas residents attending the other state's institution to pay a reduced rate also.Application Process
The process for applying for a tuition waiver varies from college to college. Normally, the office of the registrar processes tuition waivers. However, waivers may also be processed by the admissions office and/or financial aid. The student must be able to provide the college or university with proof that he/she meets the program eligibility requirements.Additional Information
